From Cornerstone 1987

They lowered the stage for me this year, did you notice that?

I don't know if you guys realize my recent history in the surrounding area of Chicago, but last time I was here we were at an amusement park.  Half an hour before we were supposed to go on, a tornado blew through the park, and so we couldn't do that.  Two years ago on this very stage we got to do about five songs, and then the police told us we have to turn it off.  We were making too much noise or something.  And three years ago we were doing this song called "Meat The Press" and just for a minute I thought I could fly.  I don't know what...

So I'm glad you guys are here, because someone's here to catch.  The other thing is, I feel like I owe you guys an apology for tonight.  We thought when we came here that we were gonna have a new record out.  And it's not finished, and I'm just sick about it.  Yeah.  And there have been rumors going around.  You know, rumors why the record isn't done.  One rumor we heard recently was that the lyrics were too controversial for the record company.  Another rumor was that I'd given up music and was going to become a wrestler.  You know, this is as good a time as any to come clean with you guys, and tell you the real reason why the record isn't out, which is...um...my dog ate it.  That's what happened.  Yeah, my dog ate it!  You know.  And it's ruined, man, it's ruined.  Like, the tapes have little milk bone particles all over 'em.  You can't do anything with them.  So, like, what am I gonna do?  All I can say is that we're still working on it, and I'll be seeing that dog in court, I can tell you that.  On this next song...we got a couple new songs to try out for you tonight.

(audience cheers)

See, you say that, but the truth of the matter is that if you don't know the song, it's just kind of boring.  So what I'd like you to do, whether you like these new songs or not, act like you do, okay?  'Cause I'm insecure about this.  On this next song, I needed on this song a guitar player, I needed someone who knew how to make his guitar spit.  So would you please welcome, from Undercover, Jim Nicholson.  This is a song for all of you psychology students.  This is called "Jung and the Restless".
